MAC Venomous Villains

Okay, so I'm aware there are a few blog posts floating around about this collection already, but I just HAD to have my say about it. I. CANNOT. WAIT. I have always had a rather unhealthy obsession with Disney (I'm actually re-collecting all my Disney videos onto DVD - crazy I know), I'm just naturally a big kid and have always been in awe of Disney and their brilliant animations (it used to be a dream of mine to become an animator for them - I wish!) I'm always drawn to anything linking to Disney, and so when I saw MAC was realising a Disney collection you can imagine my excitement - my two favourite things; make up and Disney combined - how could I not be excited!?

I've read a few blogs stating that they do not like the packaging. What?! I absolutely LOVE it. After all, what more would you expect from a collaboration with Disney?! It wouldn't be Disney without their beautifully drawn characters. I'm a huge fan of the packaging and it's one of my main reasons for being attracted to the collection in the first place!

MAC have not disappointed with this collection, from what I have seen. There are four parts to the collection, each part focusing around four of the notorious Disney villains:

Evil Queen
Maleficent
Cruella De Vil
Dr. Facilier

I'll be honest - I'm not overly fussed about the Dr. Facilier's part of the collection (I much prefer the 'classic' Disney villains and so this doesn't really excite me that much - plus I'm not really that bothered about any of the products in his part of the collection). I feel MAC could have done something a lot more interesting with a Disney villain such as Ursula (from The Little Mermaid) - I'm thinking lots of gorgeous mermaid-inspired colours... or even The Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland, who I'm sure would make a brilliant muse for the collection. However, the rest of the collection I am very excited about - Maleficent's section in particular.

I thought I'd talk a little about the products in each character's collection which have caught my eye. I've included images however they vary a bit in size - I apologise for this but I only had Google images to rely on!

Evil Queen Picks -

Bite of an Apple Blush - I think almost everyone is going wild for this blush already (I can see it being an instant sell-out). It's a gorgeous corally red colour, which I think would suit almost all skin tones. From the swatches I've seen it really is a lovely colour - definitely worth checking out and something I can't wait to get my hands on!

Strange Potion & Hot House lip glasses - I'm in LOVE with Hot House. It is such a pretty fuchsia pink colour with purple sparkle - just the sort of colour I love to wear. Strange Potion is a lovely sparkly nude coral, which would look lovely with a tan from what I've seen. I'm not usually a lip glass girl but from looking at these babies (Hot House in particular) I think I may be a convert!

Toxic Tale Lipstick - This lipstick is bright. I mean like, really bright. It's a striking bright coral red; it's such a gorgeous colour although I'm unsure if I would be able to pull it off. Definitely not for the faint hearted, but definitely worth a look if you're big on brights. I SO want to be able to pull this colour off.

Vainglorious Eyeshadow - I'm really liking the look of this eye shadow - it's a beautiful mauve brown-bronze colour, which I think would jazz up any neutral eye. As I love my neutrals I don't think I will be able to resist this - it would look gorgeous on the outer corner blended with a lighter bronze/gold shadow.

Cruella De Vil Picks -

De Vil Eyeshadow - This is a really beautiful copper-orange colour. Some people might find it a little too orangey for their skin tone (from what I've seen of it) but to me it is a beautiful and striking colour. I'm not 100% sure if I will be purchasing this as I have a similar colour already, but I'm certainly tempted by it!

Innocence, Beware! Lipstick - This is a very classic nude colour, and so a must for any nude lip fans.

Maleficent Picks -
Revenge is Sweet Lipglass - This is another lipglass I am absolutely in love with. It is such a beautiful colour - a sickly sweet sparkly pink. I will definitely be purchasing this - if, like me, you love your pretty pink lip colours then this is a must.

Violetta Lipstick - A bright, bold violet colour. This is a really out-there lip colour, it is so so pretty and bright and definitely reflects Maleficent's character (it's her signature colour). I think it's a really fun colour that I'm really hopeful will suit me! Again, not for the faint hearted!

Mineralize Eyeshadow Duos in My Dark Magic & She Who Dares - I NEED these eyeshadows. These are absolutely my favourite things out of the collection - they look simply stunning and so unusual. Each duo comes with two colours (obviously), one of which is a moon shape and the other makes up the rest of the pan. My Dark Magic is an absolutely stunning mix of fuschia and deep purple, with the other section being a deep violet/black combination. She Who Dares is another beautiful combo - a gorgeous blue-black taking up the moon half of the pan, with a stunning green on the other half. All colours are beautifully shimmery and glittery, and I cannot wait to get my hands on them... I need them now!
Bad Fairy, Mean & Green, and Formidable! Nail Polishes - These are such gorgeous and unusual nail polishes. Each one is duo-chrome - basically meaning they reflect two different colours, and I think look absolutely beautiful. Bad Fairy is a fiery orangey copper/deep pink red combination, Mean & Green a green/yellowy gold combo, and Formidable! is a blue black/blue purple combo. I've never seen anything like these before and definitely will be investing in Bad Fairy and Mean & Green.

Dr. Facilier Picks -
Greasepaint Stick in French Quarter - This looks simply stunning. It's a gorgeous sparkly golden brown-black which would be great for creating a really dramatic smoky eye.

Overall I'm really, really impressed with the look of MAC's Venomous Villains Collection. For me, the best character's collection is by far Maleficent's; the mineralize shadow duos are absolutely beautiful and the nail polishes are like I've never seen before. I will most definitely be buying a selection of products from the collection and cannot wait for it to arrive in stores and online. It's set to be available in the Autumn (late September for America, and I'm a little later for the UK). I predict it will sell out very quickly!
