Sunday Night Pamper Session

Sunday, 7 April 2013

I'm not a big fan of Sunday nights. Ever since my school days I've associated the dreaded 'Sunday night feeling' with overdue homework, stress, and misery over the coming Monday. The only difference now is, my Sunday's are filled with sadness over the weekend ending, my boyfriend going home for the week and the inevitable dread over the following day. Not fun, right? However, lately I've decided I have to make my Sunday evenings all about me - and I think a pamper session is the absolute best way to do so.

I adore having pamper sessions. I think there's nothing better than putting your feet up, whacking a face mask on and indulging in a bit of relaxation. I would have one every night if I could; however devoting my Sunday evenings to the cause suits me well and gives me something to take my mind off the somber Sunday night blues.

I thought I'd put together a little post with all the products etc. I use and recommend for a night of pure, unadulterated pampering. To begin my night I like to unwind and take a nice long bath filled with a bath bomb/melt. All of mine in the wire basket above are actually from Bomb Cosmetics, although I'm a huge fan of Lush stuff (I just wish I could afford it, wah!) I'll light a candle, grab a book and pop a hair mask on (LOVING the Lee Stafford Breaking Hair one at the minute) for a good twenty minutes, reading my book and breathing in the gorgeous aroma of my lovely Monsoon candle. I just finished the novel 'The Snow Child' and I'd definitely recommend it, although I found the first half of the story a bit slow.

Once out of the bath, I'll smother some body lotion on (the Boots Natural Collection Wild Strawberry Body Whip is literally to-die-for), followed by some body oil (loving the Balance Me toning oil at the minute - god knows I could use a bit of toning!) and then I'll step into some snuggling pjs. I'm obsessed with pyjamas - I'm particularly fond of the range at Asda - they sell some seriously cute Disney pjs, the Dumbo ones above included. Then I'll set about giving my face a bit of a pamper.

First up; exfoliation. I think exfoliating your skin is so important and I recently discovered the Botanics Radiant Youth Microdermabrasion Polish and couldn't resist purchasing it, after spending months hunting down a cheap microdermabrasion exfoliator. I've only used this a couple of times but I'm already impressed with the results - expect a full post in the next few weeks! Once I've exfoliated, I like to apply a face mask on my skin for around fifteen minutes. The Dermalogica and Soap & Glory ones above of my absolute faves - although I think the Soap & Glory one is the best of the two - it's seriously amazing. I'll sometimes use cucumber, or I recently discovered these Bliss eye energizing masks, which are great for cooling and soothing the eyes, and waking them up. I wouldn't recommend using them after a facemask though as they really irritated my skin - try using them before or whilst you have your face mask on (working around them obviously) to add to the relaxation experience!

Once my face has been pampered, I'll paint and file my nails (I'm always so slack when it comes to filing but I recently got some Tinkerbell emery boards from Primark and now I have no excuses!) and, if I feel like I really need a pick-me-up, I'll slap some fake tan on (St Moriz, always) to brighten things up a bit. Once all the pampering is done and dusted, I don't think you can beat snuggling up in bed with a good book or a DVD, some snacks (I'd ALWAYS say get chocolate but I'm trying to eat healthy right now, so yoghurt-coated treats it is!) and forget that Monday is only just around the corner.

Does anyone else devote their Sunday evenings to be a bit of pampering? What are your favourite products to pamper yourself with?
