Above: Day Look
Below: Night Look

Okay, so prepare yourself for an epicly big post full of pictures. I've been meaning to enter the Beauty and the Beach 2 competition after I stumbled across it on the Travel Supermarket website, but I never got round to it. Basically, are doing a competition called Beauty and the Beach 2 (they also did the competition last year) where bloggers have to create one of three holiday-themed looks; makeup, hair or nails (or all three if you want) to be in with a chance of winning £500 per category, or £1500 if you win all three, to put towards a holiday. I love entering competitions and I wanted to get into the holiday spirit so I thought I would try putting together my holiday looks for both day and night, as I think my day and night looks when on holiday vary so much, I had to show you them both!

Day Makeup
First up; day makeup. During the day on holiday I always want a really fuss-free, easy-to-wear look that won't cause me any bother whilst I'm by the pool, or splashing in the sea. My kind of holidays generally involve a lot of watersports and snorkelling, so makeup is always pretty minimal, but it doesn't mean you can't still have fun with it. I opted for a BB cream by Jane Iredale all over my face, as I had a sample kicking around and I completely love the coverage of this BB cream. It has SPF 25 so it's perfect for the beach and as it's mineral it won't sweat off my skin in the sun - ideal for holidays really. I wanted my skin to look really glowy and bronzed so I used my trusty Naked Flushed palette to bronze, highlight and add blush to my cheeks. I think this little palette is ideal for travelling as it really has all the face powders you really need. I wanted my eyes to be glowy and bronzed too so I used a pale beige MAC pigment with a MyFace Cosmetics eyeshadow blended in the outer-corner to add a bit o depth. It adds a really pretty sheen without looking too overdone for the day. I popped some mascara on my lashes; waterproof mascara is a total must on holiday, and if I was wearing this look for real I would probably have invested in some eyelash extensions for my holiday as I'm really self-concious about my short lashes! I finished off the look by applying some MUA lipstick in Juicy, such a gorgeous coral colour and okay for taking to the beach as it's only £1 if it goes missing/melts!
Night Makeup
Night makeup on holiday is a whole other story. Especially if you're going on a clubbing holiday or you're one for fine dining and cocktails, it's always nice to get dolled up in the evening after a day of bathing in the sun. I think holiday night makeup is the perfect place to get creative and try out things you wouldn't usually at home, which is what I tried to do here. I opted for Armani's Luminous Silk foundation to give my skin a nice dewy glow, and bronzed and contoured my face with my Clarins bronzer. I used my absolute favourite Estee Lauder Heatwave highlighter to illuminate my face and give me a gorgeous glow. For my eyes, I experimented with the bright tropical golds in my MUA 'Going for Gold' palette and absolutely love how pigmented and shimmery they are. I thought I'd go all out in the tropical side of things and add some bright blue/turquoise Eyeko eyeliner to the bottom lash line, which I think completely compliments the gold and really makes my blue eyes pop. I lined my eyes and donned my false lashes as usual, as I think falsies are definitely a necessity for holiday nights out. I used quite a few products on my lips, in an attempt to create a more three-dimensional look, which I think I achieved. I used the darkest lipstick, MAC Morange, around the edge of my lips, following through with MAC Costa Chic and MUA Juicy to give an almost ombre effect. I then popped my MUA Lipboom Gloss on over the top to really make things shine, and I completely adore the finished look.

Day Hair
For my day hair, again, I wanted to keep things simple and fuss-free so I thought a fishtail plait would be the perfect solution. It looks complicated and seriously pretty, yet is really easy to do and will keep my hair from getting too wet during any watersports in the daytime. I added a cute little plait which I clipped back where my fringe usually is to give it a boho vibe.
Night Hair
I used the Enrapture Totem styler to achieve these curls, but I think on holiday they would be pretty achievable with the plait and salt water alone. Having said that, the Enrapture styler hardly takes long at all to use and I love the results it gives. I brushed through the curls afterwards and sprayed Bumble and Bumble's Surf Spray through my hair to muss it up and add texture, and give it that beachy look. I think the surf spray is a must-have for holidays. This time I added two tiny plaits either side of my hair, which I clipped back to create a half up/half down look, and again to add to the boho/holiday vibe.

Day Nails
Although you probably won't be switching up your nails too much on holiday, I thought I would have a good at a night and a day nail look too. For the day look I decided to do an ombre-effect sunset with the silhouette of palm trees; the perfect holiday image, but really easy to create. To get the ombre sunset effect, I used a tiny sponge and painted a line of pink, followed by a line of orange, and then yellow, carefully blending them together. Then I simply dabbed this over each nail, re-painting the sponge each time until the polish was as opaque as I'd like it to be. Once dry, I painted on the palm trees and voila - gorgeous summer nails.

Night Nails
For the night nails, I thought that glitz and sparkle would be the main focus here, so I decided to do some crazy sparkly ice cream nails. They require a LOT of nail polish, but the look you get at the end is totally worth it. To create this look, I simply filed my nails to a point as much as I could, to get the cone shape, and then painted the top half brown. Once dry, I used a black nail art pen to add detail to the cone. Once this was dry, I painted over the rest of the nail with a bright colour, which I extended here and there to make it look like the ice cream was dripping down. Once this was dry, I added sparkle polish over the top, and on some of the nails glitter gems. I used a different colour to make the ice cream for each nail, and added a different colour sparkle polish over the top to jazz it up even more. I absolutely love the final look and can totally see me wearing this look on holiday, although I would probably paint my nails like this before going away, as I don't fancy lugging all those polishes in my suitcase!
