A Cheap Alternative to the HD Brow Palette

W7 Browbar Eyebrow Stencil Kit - Amazon

I love eyebrows. I think they're so important in shaping a face and really bringing out your features. Over-plucked, sparse brows are not my forte - I like 'em big, arched and thick. Think 50s glamour puss eyebrows - they're the type I have in mind when I paint my face in the morning.

For years I'd been using a run-of-the-mill brow pencil to fill in my eyebrows, but a few years ago Glossybox featured the HD Brow palette and I was hooked. I'd been using it ever since to fill in my brows, and found it worked amazingly well. Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end and about a month ago my HD Brow palette was no more. I debated repurchasing it, but the savvy shopper in me wanted to see if I could hunt out a bargain first. And voila - I stumbled across a supposed 'dupe' on Amazon.

For £4 I couldn't resist ordering the W7 Browbar Eyebrow Stencil Kit. To be honest, I didn't really read much about it but saw a wealth of dazzling reviews so promptly clicked purchase. I was expecting a parcel containing just the palette, but it actually came as a kit, including stencils and brushes. Whilst I'm not one for using eyebrow stencils, the brushes that come in the set are actually pretty decent and will definitely be put to use. Now, onto the palette itself. I really, really like this palette. I find it so similar to HD, the number '2' pan is the one I use to draw my brows on and it's the perfect colour for me. The highlighter colour is also really nice, although I tend to prefer shimmery highlighters to highlight my brow bone. Yes, there are a couple of colours in the palette that I will probably never use, but for £4 I am really, really impressed.

Now, I'm not saying this is as good as the HD Brow palette - it isn't - but it's definitely a close second. For the price I can't fault it and it does the job it's supposed to do, and the colour stays on all day. Once I run out of this I'll definitely be clicking purchase again, as £4 with free delivery is too good an offer to miss.

I've noticed there's only a few left in stock from where I bought mine on Amazon, but I've seen Xtras do them for a few pence more with free delivery here

What do you use to do your brows? Are you a fan of HD or have you found a cheaper alternative?

  1. I use MUA's pro brow kit, same kind of concept and it's not too bad. Let down in the range of colours though!

  6. I got that very same HD brow kit from GB (was it really 2 years ago?! wow!). I hit the pan ages ago on the colour I use and now just have those annoying bits round the edge! So its very much on its last legs so I've been on the hunt for a replacement too.. I think I may well give this a try! x

  7. Ooh that looks great! My HD Brow Powder is coming to it's end and I think a cheap alternative would be a very welcome addition to my collection.

  8. I'm an eyebrow pencil-er, yet to venture into the world of eyebrow powders, but at £4 I might give it a shot? Agree with you on the issue of thick, glamour puss eyebrows, they just finish off a look! x

  10. This looks like a great kit! I usually chop and change between using an eyebrow pencil and using powders. Currently I'm enjoying the Lioele Auto Brow pencil and the ELF Studio Eyebrow Kit in Ash x
