Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter Review

Wednesday, 4 September 2013

If you know me, you'll know that I'm a bit of a fake tanaholic. As much as I'd like to embrace my natural pale skin, I can't help but feel a million times better when I have a tan. I'm not one to spend my time frying on sunbeds, so I've definitely built up a collection when it comes to fake tans. My all-time favourite fake tan has got to be St Moriz, although I've recently discovered a couple of tans that are definitely contenders for the top spot, and Cocoa Brown by Marissa Carter is one of them.

I'd previously never heard of this fake tan, despite it being the number one fake tan in Ireland. When I was sent it a little while ago and learnt a bit more about it I definitely had high hopes for the tan. It's a tanning mousse, and whilst I prefer lotions I can never resist giving a new tan a go.

The application of this tan is a dream; like most mousses, it goes on evenly, sinks into the skin beautifully and dries quickly. I love how quick and easy this mousse is to use, and it definitely made those 'Ugh, I need to tan' moments a lot less painful. Another thing I love about this tan is the smell. The majority of fake tans I've tried (bar Xen Tan) have absolutely stunk of digestive biscuits, and the smell has only got worse as the tan developed. Now, I'm not denying this tan does begin to go a bit pongy once the tan develops, but when first applied it smells gorgeous and tropical, which makes a very welcome change!

Now for the important bit - what does it look like the morning after? In a word - gorgeous. I'd definitely say this is one of the darker tans I've tried and for that reason I completely love it. My legs looked incredibly tanned when using this, and I always find they never seem to tan as well as the rest of my body so I definitely give Cocoa Brown a thumbs up for this! It gave me a lovely, even gold tan that stayed really well. The only thing I will say about this tan is it can be slightly drying, but my skin is notoriously dry anyway. Unlike a lot of tans, the colour didn't fade when I stepped into the shower the day after application which I think is fantastic. I'm totally in love with this tan and I definitely think it's become one of my favourites! As for the 1 hour thing, I'm yet to try applying it for only an hour so I'll have to keep you guys updated on that one! If it does work well, however, this will be ideal for those last minute 'But I haven't tanned!' moments.

And the best bit? The price. I couldn't believe it when I found out this beauty is only a mere £7.99 to buy from Feel Unique. It's also currently in the sale for £5.99, so there are no excuses not to try it! I love this tan and will definitely be repurchasing.

Have you tried Cocoa Brown? What did you think?
