Escentially Smooth Hair Removal Cream

Wednesday, 2 October 2013

If you've been reading my blog for a while and you read my post here about hair removal, you'll know that it's always been a bit of a battle for me. I'm always looking to find something that is quick and easy to use, but also gives lasting results, so when I was approached about reviewing the new hair removal cream from Escentially Smooth I jumped at the chance.

I remember using the likes of Nair growing up in order to get rid of unwanted hair, but the god-awful smell that came with it really wasn't worth it. I moved on to Veet and other own-brand versions yet the smell was always the same, and it just never seemed worth the effort. However, Escentially Smooth is all about smelling nice, with no nasty hair removal cream smell, yet the same power as normal hair removal creams. So, naturally, I wanted to give it a go.

I'll be honest with you - I've only used this product once and I don't think I'll be using it again in a hurry. Whilst it does smell nice, a hint of the old nasty smell does linger when applying it. That being said, when it comes down to it, it's all about whether the product does the job it's meant to. Unfortunately for me, I just didn't get on with this product. I used about half a tube of it to do my legs and under arms, and after waiting the maximum time of 10 minutes (it's only supposed to take 5), and using the spatula to scrape the product off, I was still left with the unwanted hair I was trying to remove. Whilst it got rid of most of the hair on one of my underarms, it didn't even scratch the surface with the other. As for my legs - hardly any hair was removed and my legs were left looking red and feeling sore. Nothing drastic, but enough to put me off using it. I hate writing a negative review but unfortunately this product just wasn't for me. I'm not sure why it didn't work that well as other creams I've tried in the past worked fine, but this one just ended up being much more effort than it was worth. I'll be sticking to my trusty razor and shave gel from now on!

Have you tried Escentially Smooth before? I'd love to hear if you had a similar experience to me or if you got on better with it. Are you a fan of hair removal creams or do you use another method?
