Clarins Colours of Brazil Collection Review

Tuesday, 13 May 2014

When it comes to summertime beauty collections, Clarins always seem to hit the nail on the head. Every year, without fail, they come out with another gorgeous collection that sets the standard for other brands. This year Clarins takes on rusty browns, bright blues and oranges in the form of their 'Colours of Brazil' collection.

The collection consists of a selection of Limited Edition Lip Balm Crayons, a Summer Bronzing Compact, the 'Colours of Brazil' Quartet and Eyeliner Palette, and last but not least, the Truly Waterproof Mascara. I recently got my hands on a few bits and pieces from the collection, and couldn't wait to let you guys know my thoughts.

First up - the palette. The 'Colours of Brazil' Quartet and Eyeliner Palette* is a mix of rustic browns, bright orange and neon blue liner. It is unlike anything I've ever owned before and I'll admit, at first I thought the combination of colours wouldn't be for me. How wrong I was. Whilst the shades look extremely strong in the pan, they're actually not nearly as pigmented as they look, which makes for a much subtler look which I'm really fond of. The shadows blend together beautifully and I just love how they look on the lid. However, the one thing that I really adore about this palette (and which surprised me a LOT) is the liner. Now, I'm a black liner gal through-and-through, but this beauty has me questioning everything I previously thought about blue liner. It glides on like a dream and the colour is so perfect for summer. I loved wearing it and will be using it a lot throughout the summer months!

Next up - the Lip Balm Crayons*. I am in love with these. I'm not usually a fan of lip balmy products, as I find them quite boring, but these are on another level. They are so super moisturising, highly pigmented and leave a gorgeous sheen on the lips. The great thing about them is each shade reacts to the PH of your lips to create a unique shade, just for you. My favourite shade of the three I was sent to try is 02 - Creamy Pink. It's a beautiful nude-pink that would suit any skintone and is ideal for spring. I can see this being my go-to over the next coming months!

I was also sent the contrasting shade 06 - Soft Coffee. Not usually one I'd go for, this one didn't show up nearly as dark as I thought it would on my lips, which I was thankful for. It comes out as a subtle reddy-brown colour that will look beautiful with or without a tan.

Finally, this gorgeous bright red shade is definitely a must-have for summer. It's 04 - Cherry Red and I can imagine this will look totally stunning on darker skintones. It's definitely one to try if you've always wanted to give red lipstick a go but are a bit scared about how bright it is! I personally love it.

Will you be buying anything from the new Colours of Brazil Collection from Clarins? The Lip Crayons retail at £18 each, and the palette is £32.
