Fitness at Christmas: Misfit Ray Review

I know what you're thinking - fitness at Christmas? Surely she can't be serious. Well, hear me out. Whilst I'm not ready to don my sweatband and leg warmers for a 6am run on Christmas morning just yet, I do feel like I probably should be a bit more active at this time of year, especially when I know I'll be eating ALL THE TREATS very soon.

Over Christmas I can't resist treating myself - and who can blame me, with so many delicious festive feasts in the shops? But, I do think it's important to try and balance things out, especially during the run-up to Christmas, with a bit of exercise for good measure. I try to go to the gym when I can and walk my dog daily, but I never know if what I'm doing is actually enough, or how many calories I've been burning - until now.

Say hello to my new best friend - the Misfit Ray* fitness tracker. I've tried a few different fitness trackers in the past but honestly, so far, this one is hands down my favourite. In a sleek and stylish design that looks more like a fashion accessory than a fitness tracker (seriously, how good does it look!?) the Misfit Ray fits nicely on your wrist and you're good to go. Honestly, that's it - once you've set it up by popping the batteries in and syncing to the app - it's ready to start tracking. It tracks your steps, calories burned, distance travelled - it even tracks your sleep. One of the best things about the Misfit Ray is it's waterproof up to 50m, and it syncs with Speedo's lap counter, so you can track your swimming too. It's great because I find it so easy to track my daily targets and it even encourages me to get up and move if I've been sitting still for too long (something I'm very guilty of doing when Netflix is involved!) as you can set it up so that it alerts you if you're not active for a certain length of time. I think this will definitely help me over the Christmas period as it'll encourage me to get out in the crisp winter air and walk Rory instead of lounging in front of the TV!

The Misfit Ray never needs charging thanks to its nifty little batteries, so you can literally wear it all the time and not have to think about it. This is probably my favourite thing about the Misfit Ray overall - it looks amazing, so you won't mind having it on all the time. With previous trackers I've been put off wearing them constantly because, well, most fitness trackers are pretty ugly, bulky, and don't go with anything I wear. The Ray looks just like a cute little bracelet though, especially in the rose gold design I chose, and it's so subtle that no one would ever know it's actually tracking your fitness levels.

You can keep track of how well you're doing activity-wise by simply tapping the tracker - a little light will appear, and if it's red, you've still got work to do. When you've met your goal it flashes loads of different colours, which is a nice little treat! It doesn't just stop with fitness though - you can also sync the Ray to your phone so that when you get a text or call it lights up and vibrates. With the Misfit Link app you can even turn the tracker into a nifty little remote, to take selfies, control your music, even help find your phone if you've lost it. How cool is that!?

I am in love with this cute little gadget, and will be wearing it daily over the festive period to encourage me to work off those mince pies! It has everything I need from a tracker and looks great too, and comes at a great price - it's usually £79.99 which I think is more than reasonable for a fitness tracker, but at the minute it's reduced to £63.99 - even better! What more could a girl want for Christmas?!
