5 Ways to Send a Little Love During Lockdown

Although some people seem to think the pandemic is over and it’s business as usual, I know for the majority of us life still feels like it’s very much in lockdown. Okay, so we can go for a hair cut or for a drink in a bar but we still can’t hug our family and friends. This being the case, I thought I’d put a post together on the things you can send your loved ones during this time to let them know you’re thinking of them.

This whole situation has really made me appreciate my family and friends so much more, and so I think a really nice way to show that appreciation right now is by sending them a little something. We’re all having a bit of a crap time right now, so why not spread some joy and send a little surprise to your nearest and dearest? From sweet treats to pretty prints, I run through a range of things you can send out to those you love.

Send a sweet treat

Because if there’s one thing that’s guaranteed to put a smile on someone’s face, it’s got to be receiving a sweet treat in the post. Lola’s Cupcakes do a selection of brownie boxes which fit through the letterbox and they are incredible. You can choose from a mix of flavours, plain brownies or a vegan box. All the brownies are vegetarian too which is amazing. I also recently discovered that Doughnut Time (who deliver doughnuts throughout London but unfortunately not nationwide) do a DIY doughnut kit which can be delivered nationwide. Perfect for kids or anyone looking to get a bit creative during lockdown, they come with plain doughnuts and everything you need to decorate them.

Write a letter or send a card

I feel like one of the positives of this situation is that it’s brought the old art of letter writing back into the forefront. As someone who’s always been obsessed with stationery and perfecting my handwriting, sending a little letter or a card in the post definitely appeals to me. I’ve been learning calligraphy during lockdown (post coming soon) and so sending out letters and cards has been a great way of honing my skill while sharing some love with my friends and family. Papier do a lovely range of letter sets and you can get £10 off your first order using my link!

Surprise them with some flowers

There’s never been a better time to send someone flowers – we’re spending all our time at home so those beautiful blooms will definitely be appreciated. There are lots of different florists and flower delivery services out there, but the best I’ve found by far has to be Bloom & Wild. Their delivery is brilliant, presentation beautiful and their range of flowers is fantastic. Yes, they’re not the cheapest, but you can get £10 off your first order using my link. Or, if you’re looking for flowers that will last a little longer, I am completely and utterly obsessed with The Happy Blossoms. They create the most stunning dried flower bouquets I’ve ever seen and they’re such a great price considering they can last for several years. The bouquet pictured is the medium Sherbert Macaroon bunch.

Send a Hug

Right now I’m sure we’d all absolutely love to grab our mum, dad, sister, brother etc. and give them a great big hug but unfortunately that’s just not possible. That being the case, why not send them a socially distanced hug? I’ve seen lots of ‘hug in a box’ gifts, ‘hug in a mug’ gifts and even bracelets that serve as a hug from one person to another. These hugkins (little pumpkin hugs) are adorable and perfect for autumn! It’s a really sweet idea and a super easy way of letting someone know you’d really love to give them a hug right now! Plus, it’s a great way of supporting small businesses.

Treat them to a pretty print

I’ve become a bit obsessed with ordering prints whilst in lockdown – I’ve been meaning to put a couple of gallery walls together for a while and this seemed like the perfect time to do it. Why not send a pretty print out to let your friend or family member know you’re thinking of them? I absolutely love the lockdown Garden in Bloom prints that Max Made Me Do It has created – a range of beautiful flower prints with quotes about Spring 2020 that can be personalised. I think these would make such a lovely gift for a loved one!

Let me know if you’ll be using any of my ideas to send some goodies to your loved ones, or if you’ve got any ideas of your own. I hope you’re keeping safe and well during this strange time!
