Refreshing my Skincare Routine for Spring/Summer with Boots – AD

This post is an advertised collaboration with Boots but all thoughts are my own. All products featured were gifted as part of the collaboration.
It’s really easy to get stuck in the same routine when it comes to skincare. But as we head into the warmer months it’s the perfect time to take a look at your routine and see if anything needs changing up. I’ve definitely been in need of a skincare refresh lately, so I’ve teamed up with Boots to share some of their brilliant skincare products for achieving glowy, smooth, hydrated skin for spring/summer.
Switching to vitamin C serums
Recently my skin has been looking a little dull and lacklustre, and I realised when looking through my skincare products that vitamin C is something I’m really lacking. As it’s an essential ingredient if you want bright, glowing skin, I knew I needed to add a vitamin C serum to my routine. I actually opted for two in the end – the Boots Ingredients Vitamin C Serum and the Revolution Skincare 12.5% Vitamin C Super Serum.
The Boots Vitamin C Serum is a really budget-friendly, vegan option if you’re new to vitamin C. It feels really nice and lightweight on the skin and is great at making skin look brighter and smoother. I thought I’d choose it as an introduction to vitamin C before moving on to the Revolution Super Serum, which is 12.5% and so high-strength serum. It’s brilliant for smoothing out my skin and giving me a really radiant glow. It’s the first product I’ve tried from the Revolution skincare range and I have to say I’m suitably impressed!
Adding a brightening toner
I always have a toner in my routine and I decided to try the VERSED Weekend Glow Brightening Solution as I’ve been wanting to try something from the brand for ages now, and this product sounded incredible. It contains natural skin brighteners, is nice and gentle on the skin and specifically helps to improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and dreaded acne scars. My spots always take forever to fade but they’ve definitely been fading much more quickly thanks to this toner. I also love the sunshine-yellow packaging!

Changing up weekly products
When switching up your skincare routine I think it’s a good idea to look not just at the products you use on a daily basis, but also the ‘pamper products’ you use weekly/every other day. Things like exfoliating scrubs and face masks can often get forgotten about but are a vital part of every skincare routine. The WISHFUL Yo Glow AHA & BHA Enzyme Scrub helps you achieve glowy, smooth skin with AHAs and BHAs that declog pores and enzymes that loosen dead skin cells, revealing radiant, renewed skin. It’s unlike any exfoliator I’ve used before as it’s a gel-to-peel scrub, which means it’s great if you’re not a fan of gritty scrubs. It leaves my skin feeling super soft, clean and smooth and it smells amazing too!
Drunk Elephant is a brand I’ve wanted to try for such a long time and the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sakura Baby Facial ticks all the boxes for me when it comes to a face mask that improves skin tone and leaves skin looking smoother and more radiant. It helps to resurface the skin, revealing brighter, clearer, more youthful-looking skin. It’s an absolute delight to use and leaves your skin feeling so incredibly soft and clean. I also love that it comes with a mini Virgin Marula Facial Oil to apply after the mask – it makes you feel like you’re in your very own spa!
Swapping to a higher SPF
Of course, we can’t talk about spring/summer without talking about SPF skincare. Obviously it’s important to wear SPF all year round, but it makes sense to switch to factor 50 sun cream when the weather starts getting warmer. So many people still don’t wear SPF on a daily basis but it’s vital for preventing skin cancer and premature ageing. I’m using the Hello Sunday The Everyday One Face Moisturiser Sunscreen, a mineral sunscreen which also contains vitamin C and hyaluronic acid. It’s great for sensitive or acne-prone skin due to the mineral formula, and doesn’t leave the dreaded white mask you get with some SPFs. I’m really impressed with this sunscreen and I’m keen to try more from Hello Sunday.
Incorporating a facial fake tan
Finally, if you’re a fan of fake tan like myself but you’re looking for an effortless way to keep your face glowing, the Isle of Paradise Night Glow Self-tan Face Mist is for you. Simply close your eyes and spritz it on your face before bed to give yourself glowing skin come morning time. I absolutely love that it contains soothing ylang-ylang and lavender to really help you wind down at bed time, all while giving your skin a gradual glow. It also hydrates your skin while you sleep, with glycerin and hyaluronic acid. I’ve never used a spray-type facial tan before but now I am most definitely a convert – it also smells amazing!
I’m really enjoying my new, refreshed skincare routine and I’d definitely recommend changing things up for the warmer months. Do you tend to stick to the same skincare routine all year round or do you mix things up throughout the year?
