New Year, New Blog

Happy New Year! I hope everyone has been enjoying the first few days of January – I know this time of year can be depressing (don’t get me started on the fact I’m back at work tomorrow) but I also think it’s the perfect time for new beginnings, getting organised and hitting refresh.
A blog revamp
I’ve been really lucky to have a big break this Christmas and honestly it’s been amazing having time off to focus on the things that matter most. I’ve also been spending some time squirrelling away on a total blog revamp and I’m so excited now the new blog is finally live. I bit the bullet and moved to WordPress after years of debating it, and other than a couple of minor teething issues, the move over has been pretty seamless. I can’t recommend Lyrical Host enough if you’re looking for a new host/thinking of switching over to WordPress. You can even get 10% off your first hosting plan payment with my discount code – HANNAHV10.
10 years of blogging
My blog will be 10(!!) years old next month and so I wanted to give it a dramatic makeover to coincide with the new year. I say it every year, but I really want to prioritise my blog this year and get back into regular posting. That goes for Instagram, Twitter and YouTube too – yes, I’m finally going to get back into making regular videos, as I feel bad it’s been over a year since I last vlogged.
Taking things seriously
I wanted the rebrand to feel a lot more ‘me’ than my blog did previously. I started blogging back in 2010 and back then I was all about floral prints and everything super girly, and while I still like those things, my style has changed, I’ve grown up (a bit) and I wanted that to be reflected in my new layout. I also wanted to start taking my blog a bit more seriously – I’ve been making money from my blog for a fair few years now but I’ve never really seen it as a ‘business’ until fairly recently.

I definitely want to grow my blog this year. I took a big step and joined Glow & Grow at the end of last year in a bid to help me expand my blog from a business perspective and now I’m on WordPress I feel ready to start properly optimising my posts, creating a brand new media kit and, dare I say it, begin pitching to brands. I’m also thinking of starting a newsletter at some point this year – let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in!
I’m so excited to see where 2020 will take my blog. Do you have any blogging goals for 2020? Let me know!
